The act of joining probably sorted out the Vimeo codec's. You
can download them without joining.

I'd have thought upgrading was Ok given that the technology relies
on having a TPM chip in the device. Cavet emptor when buying a new
device though. I like the irony in that since most of the TPM chips
are made in China, they would likely have the same abilities as the
NSA.
